How long does printing in Asia take?

Timelines are just estimates.

There is no set timeline, but we can estimate the time taken to have your low price and high quality books in your hand. Printing in Asia is fast. But freight can be slow.

The most important out-take is this: don’t plan or announce a book launch before your book print has arrived at an Australian port. Even then things can get held up on an Australian dock. So a one month buffer is advised.

A multitude of factors including typhoons, geo-political issues, Australian Border Force and good old Aussie unions (who might go on strike). We love printing in Asia and 95%+  of the time things go according to plan – but for full transparency we’ve now told you all the possible negatives.

If time is a critical factor one thing you can easily do is have a small quantity of your books air-freighted. This will cost extra, so its important to limit the quantity air-freighted to only what is necessary. We can quote and organise air-freight while most of your books are on the ship on-the-water.

Even if you are air-freighting a small portion of your print, allow plenty of time because ultimately it is Australian Border Force who will decide if your shipment can sail through customs (not you, Fox Merit or our printers).
